The Lonliness of Space

*AP testing this week, so shorter posts. Sorry.

A galaxy holds a single star surrounded by planets. A ball of burning gas in the company of rocks.

Do you ever wonder how lonely it is in space?

Every star is millions of miles away from another, worshiped by matter of a different species.

And when they die, it takes years for anyone to notice the flame that flickered out. Because even the speed of light isn’t fast enough to communicate with another world.

Space is called that because there’s an unlimited supply of it. Wherever you go, you’ll find it wrapped around you, distancing you from everything else.

I feel like I’m a star in space. The family that orbits me isn’t created from the same elements. And every other ball of gas is miles away, trapped with their own plannets.

And though my light flickers, no one can see it happening.

Because there’s nothing but space between us.
