*Wild Card Post*
The girl in the black brimed hat stood watching
As the room unfolded into conversation,
And evolved as words like “I hate you” stretched to each corner.
But it wasn’t a kind of hate that left a bitter taste in your mouth
Or furrowed brows when you leave.
.
It wasn’t a kind of hate whispered behind backs
But instead, a kind of hate fashioned from love
Handcrafted by fractured souls joining together
To feel a little less broken.
A kind of hate formed quickly, sometimes without reason,
But most often from envy.
A kind of hate that built walls from stones meant to be cast at each other.
.
The girl in the black brimed hat watched
As mayhem rippled through the walls,
As depression seeped from hearts
And mixed together into one pot of melancholy.
And if only for a moment, peace came from hate,
Calm from the storm,
And hope from the darkness.
.
The girl in the black brimed hat watched as order was disrupted,
And agendas were torn from her hands.
But she was okay with that.
She breathed in the scent of chaos,
Tasting every smile, every laugh.
She rolled them around in her mouth, enjoying the sweetness of it all.
.
The girl in the black brimmed hat sighed, content.
Because for once, she was at peace in words of unrest.
