Introduction

An introduction is supposed to tell you about me.

So, I am a writer.

Not just someone who puts words to paper, but someone who goes to writing as an outlet. Someone who sprinkles small hints of who they are- either conciously or subconciously- into every sentence.

Though all you probably wanted was, “I’m a writer.”

If you wanted to know why my pen name is The Splintered Pencil, I could give you a really cool back story. One where the name has some special meaning that ties to my life. I could say the pencil is spintered because I’m frustrated with my writing, or because I write so much that my mental pencil has splintered.

But If I’m being honest here, I came up with the name 5 minutes ago and have no idea what it means. I just liked it.

If you wanted to know about me,

I’d tell you I like writing, art, and food.

I’d tell you I’m a teenager trying to survive high school.

And I’d tell you I like sleeping- a lot.

But the that’s not really the truth. It’s only what I use as an excuse when I can’t think of anything. Like right now.

So if you really wanted to know about me,

I’d tell you I don’t really know who I am yet. And I’m still wondering how every moment in my life influences who I am today. Every day will be different, because more memories are created with the passing of time. So if I tell you who I am, it’ll only be a lie because I’m never going to be that exact same person ever again.

Perhaps my real answer should be, “I’ll let you know when I’m dead, when my life stops changing, and when I know for certain who I was at the last second.”
